Rico has been working in pizza since 1998. As a boy he spent his summer breaks working for a family relative, and he learned to make pizza standing on a milk crate at twelve years old.
He moved to New York from Toronto in 2005 and worked his way up at a local pizzeria, from delivery driver to General Manager. All the while, his father kept encouraging him to open his own place.
When his father passed away in 2012, Rico decided the long hours he was putting in for someone else would be better spent on a shop of his own. On Father’s Day 2014, in honor of his father’s wish, Uncle Rico’s Pizza opened its doors.
